Chemetall honored as one of Germany's best apprenticeship companies

(BATON ROUGE, La.) April 29, 2016 -- Chemetall, a leading global surface treatment company and division of Albemarle Corporation (NYSE:ALB), was honored as one of Germany’s best apprenticeship companies by a major weekly news magazine called FOCUS.

Each year, over half a million young people finish school and start vocational training for thousands of different jobs in Germany. The study conducted by the weekly news magazine FOCUS has tested 2,000 companies from 22 different industries, and has honored Chemetall as one of Germany's best apprenticeships companies. Chemetall Training Officers Britta Schneider and Cliff Ross are pleased, "This is an overwhelming result for our company. Above all, it is a great acknowledgement for the dedication of our instructors in the individual departments, who put their heart and soul into the training of young, motivated employees every year.”

The survey included the 2,000 largest employers in Germany and its results were influenced by various aspects such as success of apprentices, structural data of vocational training, and salaries paid to the apprentices. To enhance comparability, different industry conditions were also incorporated into the assessment. The results were published in the German news magazine FOCUS, issue 4/2016.

At its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Chemetall offers apprenticeships in both "office" and "technical" professions. In both fields, the trainees spend rotations of about six to eight weeks at school and then return to Chemetall, where they are assigned to different departments during the course of their three-year apprenticeships. The concept is to offer the most diverse experience in all their possible future fields of activities, so that both the trainee and Chemetall can identify their individual strengths, talents and affinities. Chemetall also offers apprenticeships at the manufacturing plant in Langelsheim, Germany, where the GBU Lithium & Advanced Materials is the locally responsible partner.
